CONNECTORS-623 required more work to deal with form posting issues that stem
from HttpClient limitations. As such, the hope that we'll be able to stop
using custom code is in vain, until Solr there's a HttpClient 4.3 release with
appropriate fixes (not even yet proposed) and Solr upgrades to the 4.3.x
release series.
