I have an implementation in branches/CONNECTORS-1244.
In order to get this done, I had do substantial work to convert the connector
to use Velocity templates, and also had to make significant changes to core and
connectorcommon. So whatever happens, this is not going to be easy to deal
with as a simple patch.
Waiting now for feedback before merging.
