Sometimes a connector (e.g. the JDBC connector) has no ability to calculate a
document version. In older versions of MCF, the empty string ("") signaled
that this was the case, and this value was treated specially. In release
1.9/2.2, this ability was lost.
Adding this back in seems doable although there is concern that it may conflict
with CONNECTORS-1153.
