This issue is labeled with GSoC so it is planned to be a project for this year.
There is already a student interested and he has submitted a proposal. Moreover
he has followed the GSoC way to proceed using the mailing list to show interest
and discuss ideas.
You can work in this connector if you want, but if you have not submitted a
proposal on time then it will be useless
