Daniel's point was that we shouldn't -- hell, some of us can't -- pay for them.
That's true, a point I ignored in my previous note. Of course, I shouldn't have had to pay for all the stuff I brought to the booth, either. But in the absence of some "official" way to cover those costs, then just doing it using funds from those of us who can pay for stuff is at least one solution. Better than saying "oh, no money, we can't do it" (which is not what Daniel was saying, but others seem to at times) -- we find a way. If not an official way, then an unofficial one, like me selling books at the booth. BTW, the profits from my book sales have paid me back for what I spent on providing things for the booth, and left some over for future OOo related expenses -- like business cards.
Cheers, Jean
