Why are people neglecting the current To-Do's which exist

They are all but impossible to find.

Visit the marketing.openoffice.org homepage or *any* page inside the project. The MP homepage has the link. And all the MP pages have a link named: "How to help" --> which leads directly to the To-Do list.

They are of no apparent relevance.

Ask on the list about those tasks which seem irrelevant.
Ask which of the tasks is more urgent. etc... I am sure answers come also help, and many thanks that finally somebody did that task, etc.

If you watch the lists long enough, you'll learn that the most effective way to do something, is to do it _without_ announcing, or mentioning it on a list that Community Reps, or Project Leads are on, prior to starting it.

I dare to say this is wrong again. The only danger in saying it, is that either your thread gets dilluted by many responses which derrail from the main subject, or that you really want to do something that requires more than a simple "Go ahead, I wrote your name near the task in To-Do. You are in charge. Thanks and please do not hesitate to ask for help if you need."

Announcing it on list that Project Leads, or Community Reps are active is, is pretty much going to get it either shot down on sight, or forced into a spending hours in email/meetings, etc, to see it get shot over time.

If you start/do the project, and only announce it after the fact,
you'll get complaints, but it won't be shot down.

Well, my experience is quite different. And the leadership did not changed meantime, therefore, I cannot blame it.

BTW:
I've seen the words "small task" in this thread. I am curious to see a list, but unfortunately I do not have the time to search all this thread.

BTW2:
Why not write down and maintain somewhere (say in an issue ?) a list of not yet approved tasks to which people wanted to enroll ?
- Maybe it is just a matter of decision which takes a bit more time.
- Or maybe the proposal was missunderstood or not enough explained.
- Maybe the author did not documented himself enough prior to proposing it.
- Could be also the fact that the proposal or the way of proposing offended somebody.
- Or that it breaks some well established rules
- OR, SIMPLY, the person to decide was exactly in those days caught in some trouble or real-life work too hard so that it did not had the time to look over it!!
- Also, [EMAIL PROTECTED] list is so crowded that it is very easy to miss an important message. Who has the power to read all the threads there ?
===========
All these reasons and many others once gone, the proposals can be re-analized and eventually put in practice. Write all proposals for example in a single issue. One note per proposal + username of the author.

I personally would do so. What do you think ?

All the best, Cristian
