I have just posted this to [users], but I thought I would highlight Jacket Potato Inc. here.

OOo Base is a new module, and for some, much sought after. There are expectations that it will be easy to use and or as easy to use as MS Access. It is, but if you are new to database tools, knowing what to do initially (even with the help of wizards) may not be enough. Jacket Potato Inc. is a sample database that may be used as a marketing tool to introduce new users to get started with OOo Base.

Inconjunction with Justin's tutorials, I expect OOo Base and the sample database will be of great interest to people who have been waiting to be able to say that OOo has a database. Potential users will be able to try the OOo Base module themselves without having to enter any data.

Regards
Jacqueline

Hello

Dmitri has created Jacket Potato Inc.

Jacket Potato Inc. is a sample database created using OpenOffice.org
Base. It uses the HSQL embedded database engine. The purpose of Jacket
Potato Inc. is to provide a usable sample database and demonstrate OOo
Base’s basic capabilities.

Jacket Potato Inc. is released under LGPL and is available from:
http://nothickmanuals.info/doku.php?id=jacketpotato

So if you are keen to check out how easy to use OOo Base, Jacket Potato
Inc. will get you started as you don't have to know anything about
creating a database to get started.

But I strongly recommend that if you are not accustomed to playing with
developer builds, please wait for the Beta candidate or better, 2.0 Beta.

All the best
Jacqueline McNally
Lead, OpenOffice.org Marketing Project
