The MP strategy regarding the website is documented at http://ooosmp.homelinux.org/StrategicProposals/Website. We believe that the aims of a 'shop window' site and a 'community' site are different.
What is a "shop window" site?
I feel pretty relaxed about Frando's original proposal for a spreadopenoffice 'shop window' site. I don't think we can ever hope for a 'one culture suits all'.
I'm a fan of using "the right tool for the job".
From time to time groups of folk will feel frustrated with mainstream OOo. I'd be happier for them to go and promote OOo elsewhere than go off and promote something else entirely.
I didn't think of that. Good point.
For this reason, I'm less enthusiastic about some of the later suggestions that spreadopenoffice should also move into the 'community' space.
I'm not yet clear on what a "shop window" vs a "community" site is. I think I have an idea.
