Dear Sirs,
The reason I am contacting you is I would like to solicit support/sponsorship for an upcoming event I am coordinating here in western North Carolina. I am currently establishing a linux users group (WCU-LUG, short for the Western Carolina University Linux Users Group) and will be hosting a "Software Freedom Day" event (additional information available at: http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/ ) August 21st and 22nd. One of our events will correspond with student events for maximum exposure during a student registration/orientation period; second and third events are planned but have yet to be determined locations and dates. The second and third events will hopefully additionally include involvement by the WNC-LUG (Western North Carolina Linux Users Group, http://www.wnclug.org/ ) whom I've recently approached for the September 10th Software Freedom date.
Can you advise who I could contact within your organization for materials which we can pass out to visitors of our booths. It would be great if we could obtain any cd's, materials and literature regarding OpenOffice.org along with stickers, and other marketing supplies for distribution, or a banner for advertisement. Given the enormity of this project we are wanting to make as large of an impact as possible and likewise will require support from contributors such as your organization. The college campus target audience will consist of over 4000 students and their families during the time frame chosen. The two other events will have exposure to a lessor degree but combined will probably be equal in number. This would be an excellent marketing opportunity for the OpenOffice.org website and its' objectives. If this works as anticipated, we will look to target UNC Asheville, and other colleges/universities within the UNC system with future events. Any advise or direction you can give to this ends will be greatly appreciated. I'll be happy to provide additional information if needed.
Thanks,
