I would like to know if some of you find interesting this idea, as a way of promoting free software as quality software. A lot of people, when they are asked why they use MS products instead of, for example, open office, their answer is "I don't believe that open office will do the same as my microsoft office". Why don't demonstrate that with a competition? The competition will consist of creating some office documents. Those documents could be created by using any software.
Tell us what would you need from our part.
In order to check that the document is what it was asked to do, we could get a postcript or pdf version and make a diff. Then a list of winners with the suite they used will be public. What do you think?
My advise is to join the [email protected] and show your point, I am forward this email to them. But I think this is a great idea.
