Hi,
Don't want to start a flame or software war, but how does Ooffice compete
against M$-Office? I am a free software fan myself and never had any M$
products on my home machine for last 3 years. I am just curious to know
about the ease of use and features available in OpenOffice against
M$-Office. Something concrete rather than an emotional outbrust. I have a
batch of people wanting to shift to OOffice or Star Office but are
reluctant and me being a CLI guy cannot help (motivate) them much.
Almost all offices where I've installed OO, I've also replaced MickySoft, for
security and stability reasons, not just a DRASTIC reduced TCO. NOT one
office as yet to look back at M$ Office.....all are VERY pleased and have
found that OO has ALL the features they need and more. It's also so good that
AT&T has decided to dump MickySoft in favor of OO! There are a LOT of other
companies that are doing just that.

I think there are issues between OOo and MSO that might be acknowledge to the
end users. Things like, copy-pasting images from a browser to the OOo document
will generate a 'link' by default and wont save on the actual document.
Autofilters in Calc, animations in Impress are somehow cumbersum.
Other things that OOo might do different is the management of styles (more
flexible), Navigation (more powerful/diverse), management of templates (they
became actually usable).
If they have internet access you could send them to a variety of support
websites to get them polish the differences. Some useful sites are
oooforum.org
(very active), www.ooooauthors.org, openclipart.org, and
http://mindmeld.cybersite.com.au/ (we need to get this guy a domain oookb.org)
:)
