The prices of hardware have been going down for 40 years straight.
Meanwhile, since Microsoft made its monopoly, the prices of MS software
has been going up. This trend came to an end when open source became big.
Yes, I think that there is a causal relationship between open source and
a halt to the increase in MS softare prices.
