Hi All,
As many have voiced about the commerical contribution for
advertising, has there been any solid plan on how much required (of
course the more the merrier)? There should in fact be an idea on how
much is required and on which media, how long does the advertising
campaign going to last, etc.
This will probably facilitate on the type of potential companies to
target. Small firms might be good for a one-off donation while big firms
for a long-term commitment.
Talking about googles: will that be any chance that googles might
provide a 'free' way to add openoffice in their adword system? In fact,
I have the belief that they might be interested to provide the
additional help. Looking at the partnership between Google and Sun,
Google do want to have an influence in the desktop system management.
Office suite is definitely something that will probably be interesting.
Imagine the find button in the office suite is google powered? So
probably there might be a way whereby Google helps in advertising to the
market while openoffice provide more freedom for google in the technical
sense.

Hello All,
Has anyone considered contacting Google to see if they might change
their website logo as they do for major holidays which could
incorporate the OpenOffice logo for a day/week? Certainly the "oo" in
Google could be modified to reflect OpenOffice. If this is of
interest, I will make the intitial inquiries.
FYI: I am employed at Sun as an Account Marketing Manager in the U.S.
Field Marketing organization in the NorthEast Area. My
responsibilities are the State of New York (outside of NYC) and
General Electric globally. My education and experience includes
Advertising, Marketing, Sales, and Business Management. I'm using
OpenOffice at home and StarOffice 8.0 at work.
Our Team covers the entire Eastern Seaboard of the U.S. My colleagues
cover the entire country. My counterparts cover the entire globe. We
all hold local events such as SunDays, Developer Days, Boot Camps,
Product Launches, etc. I intend to distribute OpenOffice at all of
these events.

Sorry to be rather down-to-earth, but it may not work out very well at
this time. However, what can be done on a Danish level is to collect
local funds through an existing or newly-founded local org and
advertise
OOo as you pointed out.
Hope this helps,
I'll agree with Charles. Just for the sake that Mozilla had a problem
that not all of the donators names got in with the advertisement.
That part starts to get ugly. So if you can do it in a smaller area
you have a better chance of not missing something.
