Hi, my name is Daniel Lynn. I just signed onto this list.

Welcome Dan.

Should I just watch the messages for a few days to see what's going
on

Normally, I would say yes :) However, there is a core group of people
who are in a flurry to prepare for the release of 2.0 and celebrate our
5th anniversary so they may not be talking here much.

or is there a good place to look for a general overview to get up to
speed?

It depends on what it is that you wish to offer :)

If you are into art, then you may wish to subscribe to the Art Project
list to assist with creating a celebration cake with five candles, and
learn about other artwork related activities. Our anniversary is the
13th which is tomorrow (already) for some of us.

If you are into research and text, the milestones page needs updating,
see: http://www.openoffice.org/about_us/milestones.html I haven't seen
anyone put up there hand for this, and it may be an interesting task for
someone that is new to the OpenOffice.org web site and would like to
explore.

Have a look at the entries for previous years and you see that they
mostly link to other parts of the OOo website, e.g.
http://www.openoffice.org/editorial/articles.html Find these links from:

If you wish to know of other mailing lists and projects related to
marketing, please see:

Also, explore the links in the left navigation menu on
http://marketing.openoffice.org/

Again welcome, and if I can be of any further assistance don't hesitate
to let me know.

All the best
