Its rather surprising that OEM retailers will pay $10 for MS Works when they could use OOo for free and its not only a lot better, its actaully more compatible with other MS products! 2.0 could be the tipping pint here though. > I'd like to mention two initiatives on the OEM that seem to work : > -we have an OEM project: http://distribution.openoffice.org/oem/ I know about it, just never really had time to join it. > -several native-lang projects have had contacts with OEM and managed to > strike some successful deals for OpenOffice.org More the better. I'm sure there must be places with more success than here in the UK. Certainly I wok in the PC distribution channel and I have never seen anyone building PCs and advertising OOo installed here. I did see Star Office in a supermarket on some computers but that was about it. Again I think 2.0 might make a difference es[ecially if added to ODF publicity. As usual time is the big limiting factor. If I can get my business plan progressed I'll create more time to follow these things up with a better strategy. -- Ian Lynch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ZMSL --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
