So, you're saying ODF and OOo are two different things? And someone can
support one and not have to support the other? Wow. Talking to just about
everybody else on this list, you'd think otherwise.
Just to say something about "everybody else on this list" (Even if
I'm quite sure you wouldn't count me to your "about"):
There is a lot of traffic here showing different points of view
about several points regarding Massachusetts' way with or without
ODF (and OOo, because in the moment OOo is the only office suite
supporting it fully), about the position of certain software
producers (JAWS) to support other platforms aside Windows, reasons
for Mircosoft to support or not to support ODF.
This thread started with information about the problems of disabled
people and as OOo marketing we should find a way to answer this
question instead of stating different opinions about facts or what
we believe to be facts.
So my ideas of our work in this case are:
- find out what *we* can do and will do
(e.g. find out which accessibility optimizations have been done or
will be done in near future - and be present at ui.openoffice.org to
show there the need for such features form a marketing point of view)
- perhaps find a responsible marketing person for disabled people
- find marketing strategies for both cases MS Office neglecting ODF
or adopting it (perhaps even harder)
No one of us is able to tell the future, so we don't need to insist
on our different opinions of what will happen during the next years.
But it's our task here to be aware of the different possibilities
and to develop strategies for all of them.
Thanks for the insight Jacqueline. I guess as the head of OOo Marketing,
you'd know.
Seriously, I'm glad to see that other people, people that have clout, see
the difference.
You tell your affront "serious"? If you really think, Jacqueline
doesn't have clout, you should start a thread in order to replace
her as Marketing Project Lead.
But you would see that you are quite alone with your generalized
position.
Discussing different points of view is okay - as long as it's
related to OOo marketing and causes someone to *do* something.
But there is no reason to insult the people inside the OOo marketing
project. We stand for the same goal - and even if we use different
ways to reach it, we should abstain from fighting against each other.
There are other opponents to fight against!
Best regards
Bernhard
