However, over the last 6 months I've noticed a negative undercurrent
come across the list. Good ideas have been shot down, because they
came from the 'wrong' people, and a cloud of closed-mindedness to new
people and new ideas has enveloped the list.

I think we have to change this - and there have been things done to change it. Jacqueline asked us to send only reasonable and rational postings to this list ("mailing list guidelines" Nov. 30, 11:26). With reasonable postings we'll be able to get reasonable answers - and after that there can be a decision.

Since a majority of people on the list, and the leadership of
OpenOffice.org, no longer appear to appreciate the work of the
low-level, grassroots volunteer, I'm going to choose to dedicate my
time to projects that better appreciate the little people.

Perhaps you can wait another four weeks - if we manage to keep ad hominem issues off the list there could be some advance in these points as well.

This is not a personal issue -- everyone who I've ever met, or had
off-list conversations with, have always been great, and it's not one
single action by one single person or group of people, just a
disagreement with the direction of the project. I'll still be working
hard to promote openness in goverment and business, just outside the
realms of OpenOffice.org and the marketing project.

It's your right to leave the project when you don't feel represented by it's officials. But what I read from you in the last months was merely rational, you tried to calm people down.

I'd like you to stay here!

Best regards
Bernhard
