I think you could say that MSO 2003 has these things, even if 97 doesn't. 
It certainly has a stylist (I preferred the old system) and there is a 
document view that's very like the Navigator as well as the outlining mode. 
As for data integration, a lot of what people want is supplied by the PIM. 
Most of the data most people want to integrate is the kind of thing stored 
in Outlook.
