Cool. There are actually, oh, I don't know, dozens of OEMs deploying
OOo with their computers. Most listed are small computer companies
(actually, all), like Mom and Pop shops. But they uniformly tout OOo
as a bonus to their customers.
One thing that they may not be installing, though, is documentation
(we have lots) or information about support (see http://
support.openoffice.org). All these would further help their
customers--and us, as it further gives people the idea that we are in
fact reliable, professional, and just like the other guys only a lot
better and nicer :-)
If someone wants to help out with the OEM project.. just let me know!
You need some CVS and HTML experience, but not much. For comparison,
see the cdrom project, http://distribution.openoffice.org/
I'd love to help out. I have some HTML experience (I am a web
developer in
real life) but not much CVS experience (read _ none) but I'm
willing to
learn.
Great! The tentative URL is http://distribution.openoffice.org/oem/
index.html . I set this up a long time ago and various persons over
the years have expressed interest in helping but things intervene....
I've already got one such "Mom and Pop" shop installing
OpenOffice.org (and
a bunch of other open source apps) on all his new and used
systems. He also
carries theOpenCD on his shelves as well.
Cool. If others want to help, great. But I'll send you Chad more info
directly...
Louis
