Correct - we went a big step in this direction with the platform specific native installers in OOo 2.0 > Item 3.8 - Making OOo available in public libraries. The feeling was that this was more likely to happen within local areas, although if anyone wants to pay my ticket to say Singapore, I'd be happy to speak there :-) > Item 4.22 - supplying statistics about users. The SMP has a section on the difficulties of this - 'Measuring Progress' http://ooosmp.homelinux.org/GoalsandObjectives/UsageGoals. Ian has mentioned that OOo is starting to appear on some of the industry watchers - I believe this is the only way we'll find out the true position. We had a new sponsor sniffing round last year and this is one of the areas we suggested where they could help us out. This hasn't gone completely cold, but it isn't as hot as it was. > Finally, I know there has been some discussion regarding a specific marketing > site ala spreadfirefox.com or what some others have done. Happy to take suggestions on this list. For the strategy discussions, there is a [email protected] list, which would actually be a better place (it makes it easier to find postings later as the site search engine is so terrible).
