The Friends of OpenDocument Inc. (FoOD) was set up to handle
money for any organisation or group that fits our mission and
needs the services of a bank account and PayPal account.
Daniel's earlier note to this list may have left the impression
that FoOD was set up to fund the OpenDocument Fellowship, but in
fact the original reason for setting up FoOD was to handle sales
of books produced by OOoAuthors. We envisioned providing services
to any appropriate group that needed those services. The
Fellowship was the second group we helped. We are currently
looking at assisting other groups.
The services of FoOD are available to OpenOffice.org as well. I
realise that TeamOOo already exists, but perhaps some way to
channel funds to local events -- particularly in Australia & New
Zealand -- might be useful. No need to set up a separate
organisation; we're already here.
FoOD's policy is for the members of a group (not the FoOD
management committee or membership) to determine how their money
is spent. So we are acting only as a provider of a bank account,
not making decisions about the funds that go through that
account. Each group's funds are accounted for separately.
FoOD's mission is:
To support the work of community volunteers in promoting,
improving and providing user assistance for the OASIS Open
Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) and open
source software designed to operate on data in this format.
Clearly this covers providing support to OpenOffice.org.
More information is on this page and others linked from it:

I am happy to answer any questions about the organisation that
anyone may have.
Regards, Jean
Jean Hollis Weber
Secretary/Treasurer, Friends of OpenDocument Inc.
