Actually it is an aim to get them to do this and that is one of the
things I have been trying to do. In fact we did have a small start with
Otto as he was designed by a school boy in a competetion. The main
reason I haven't pushed for a separate education project is I never got
the CVS stuff working and I couldn't alter the web site and I couldn't
see too many schools going for commit rights to help out. Now there is a
Wiki that is much simpler and I think it will be easier to get people
involved in making such contributions. Also for the Gold INGOT there is
a requirement to make a contribution to an Open Source project with OOo
as the example. We have issued around 3000 INGOT certificates so far but
most are Bronze and younger kids. I am currently going through the
procedures with the UK government to get the certification officially
recognised for school league table point scores. When this happens a lot
more will do Gold. I have also been to talk with the Governments of
Catalonia and Extremadura and we have assessors now in Australia, New
Zealand, Philipines, Sweden, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Slovenia, Poland,
Portugal, Spain, Mexico, USA, Romania.

I think this needs a bit of thought. You might be right but if I was
taking a zero based view my first thought would be that there should be
a single education project.

Where will the proposal take place?
