You'll soon hit the problem that different people will disagree on which arguments are valuable and which are useless. I haven't thought about this very much, but one solution might be to have a vote on issues that seem to be dragging along indefinitely. In cases where it seems that we will never get a clear concensus, a vote is a way to at least end the thread.

It's also easier to say "go to social" if you have a clear majority vote saying so.

I don't generally suggest votes for open source projects (they short-circuit what can be useful discussion) but they do have their place.
