Hi,
This page:
http://www.openoffice.org/screenshots/
Linked from this (and I'm sure others) page:
http://marketing.openoffice.org/art/index.html
Has screenshots of OOo 2.0 beta - and nothing newer. It even has
pictures
of the 1.9.x builds - but nothing 2.0 final or higher.
Good points...
My questions are:
1. Do we still need the 1.x build screenshots at all - or at
least on
this page at all?
We need them but they should be on a separate page. 1.1.5 is still
being offered and 1.0.3 is still needed by the Win 95 crowd.
2. Do we have updated screenshots anywhere on the official site?
(yes,
I have tried finding them myself, and can't)
No.
3. Where do I need to go to upload screenshots of my own - or
should
I?
Why not replace the extant ones? Use the same sizes or better; make
the layout good. I'll gladly upload it for you. No one really
maintains that page but we ought to ... There are other pages, too,
that probably need updating. We maintain them in the www directory
because it is not branded as a "project," but that may no longer be
an issue.
4. Who do I need to contact - or what form do I need to fill out to
get this updated?
See above. fast way: file an issue, assign to self and upload
screenshots fitted into web page or if you want to keep the web page,
just new screenshots. There is a query about licensing here; I
recommend public domain. Just state that you are placing these all in
the public domain.
5. Assuming we can get this updated - does anyone have
screenshots -
or can make screenshots - for us to use, from the different OSes
- and the
different "skins" (I'm thinking of the Gnome/KDE thing they
added for
2.0.2 on Linux)?
:-) Put a call out to discuss@ and users@, too.
6. Assuming we can't get the page changed - should we build a new
screenshots page on the Wiki - and how does one add pictures to
the wiki?
Why on earth wouldn't you be able to get the page changed? :-) I
think the wiki is not the best for something like this, which can get
a lot of exposure. You can certainly do a draft using the wiki but
for final, we should have it on OOo. FWIW, John, Jacqueline, CPH, I
and several others have www commit access and will be glad to upload
the finished screenshots.
Best,
Louis
Thank you!
