Nice quotes from Jacqueline: http://www.sci-tech-today.com/story.xhtml?story_id=010001470KT4&page=1

Alas some un balanced quotes about would be spaghetti code of OOo, security attacts on Linux and such ...

I wished to respond in an informed way, which is why I asked the OOo developers, see: http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/SearchList?list=dev&searchText=spaghetti&defaultField=body&Search=Search

Yes, I remember those mails. My remark was not to criticize your contribution to the article.

I did not read your remark as criticism of my contribution, but of the
items that you listed. However, I would always welcome your critque on
anything that I may of purported to say :)

It's always very dificult to have real influence on all that the press publishes.

While you do not often get to know who else is contributing to the
article, or perhaps don't get to read the final draft, direct quotes are
just that.

An elephant stamp for anyone that spots where I was misquoted. Hint: It
appears in two of the four quotes.

They probalbly didn't ask you what your idea was about those things.

That's correct.

My remark was only a note: we're not yet there. Superflues probably :-)

Not at all. The issue about the quantity and quality of the code to my
mind has become a MP FAQ. In asking the OOo developers I wished to be
informed for if and when I was asked. What I would prefer is for
developers to respond directly. If there are any developers reading this
that would be comfortable with talking to the media, please let me know.
I really would like a list of at least 2 - 3 experts that I can call on
when I have these type of questions.

Another Australian, approached the issue from a different angle, see:
http://white.cyber.com.au/conz/blog/index.php?id=15 Btw, I have let Con
know that I messed up his page with a long URL.

Regards
Jacqueline
