Create a "Friends of OpenOffice" donations arrangement
whereby someone who donates say $25 or more is
recognized for a year with a thank you somewhere on
your site and gets the next year's worth of issues of
your monthly or bi-monthly newletter which includes
insight into the project activities and direction of
the software.
Idea #2
Use some of this money to actively get OpenOffice to
potential users by sending OpenOffice CDs and some
printed info to certain groups like teachers,
accountants, etc. I find it amazing how many people
know nothing about OpenOffice.
Idea #3
Get a charitable organization 501(C)3 so these
donations can be made on a tax deductible basis in the
U.S.
I've been waiting for something like this to happen for the last five years.
Just give me a bank account number, and I would like to be the first
person o pay the $25. And I guess I could get 10 more sponsors in a few
days :-)
