Hi folks, I have managed to convince my company to build a web based OpenOffice training Portal to allow more people to learn OO in a fun, entertaining and interactive way. In the name of Corporate Social Responsibility, we may consider giving this portal access free for everyone.
The key difference about our online tutorials are that they are interactive in nature, unlike those slideshow-based tutorials which requires zero user interaction. Our tutorials require user interaction and come with quizzes to facilitate a more effective learning process for those interested in OO. This project has taken us about 9 working months to complete. This is done in collaboration with Singapore Corporation of Social Enterprises, SCORE. SCORE is the rehabilitation arm for Prisons. This project allows the inmates to contribute their small part to the larger community, despite serving their existing sentence. Personally i am very excited about such collaboration, as it truly exhibits the spirit of Open Source in a way. I was told that this project has also helped them in the rehab process as it help increase their self -confidence and better prepare them for re-integration into society. Before we officially launch this on 4 July (targeted), I would like to get your feedback on this portal and whether you think it can be used for public users to learn OO in a fun, interactive manner. We hope to work with OO community to provide this free interactive training to users worldwide. A FREE user account has already been created for all of you to review the beta site. The login URL is http://openoffice.resolvo.com/index.jsp USERID: demo PASSWORD: demo Sincerely hope to get feedback from you on how to improve this further before the official launch. PS: Attached is the formal invitation letter from my company. Cheers, Onn Chee Singapore Marketing Contact OpenOffice.org
