Get the OpenOffice.org product at this URL:

  http://www.openoffice.org/

by clicking the large green "get openoffice.org" button. Download and 
install it (it's free!) and you will be able to open .ods files.  
OpenOffice.org can also read and write files in Microsoft Excel format.
