Hi there,
while reading this comment "While it is true that OpenOffice.org doesn't
quite have every feature of Microsoft Office, for 90%+ of users
OpenOffice.org is the perfect solution for their office suite needs." on

http://thenewmarketing.com/blogs/thenewmarketing/archive/2006/07/14/103.aspx

It came to me that OOo marketing should re-brand MS Office for Microsoft
as the luxury product it is. OOo could capitalize on the fact that
Computer technology has become cheaper due to economies of scale. A
typical )office) PC went from $3500 five to seven years ago to $500 -
$700 these days. However MS Office enjoyed the same economies of scale
but its price did stay the very same. And MS's argument that they
deliver more features for the same money is crap, because so did the PC.
Not to mention, that most people fail to need the advanced features of
new PCs or the added features of Office 200X.

My point is that the ratio between hardware and the basic office suite
went from 7:1 to 1.5:1 and 1:1. This does not make any sense to my
budget and I guess to most peoples budget.

Any comments?

P.S.: Another way to put the price and value of OOo is "Get a 100%
discount!" or "Buy one, get one free!".
