Also It would be nice if OpenOffice.org were available in Google Pack... http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html?hl=en&gl=us KAMI
I had wondered about that myself. I mean Google is working with OpenOffice.org (they have coders employeed to work on it) - but not even an optional download on the Google Pack site. At least 3 reasons I can think of that they would do this. 1) OpenOffice.org is a pretty big download - even for an "optional" download. 2) OpenOffice.org does not support updating - you have to reinstall with each micro-release (Google Pack keeps your software updated, if you let it). 3) OpenOffice.org competes directly with several Google-brand products - Writely, Google Spreadsheets. Google, I think, would prefer people to download the Google Pack, and use Writely and Spreadsheets and Gmail and Google Calendar, etc. as their office suite. I love Google (notice my email address) - and I'm grateful for the help they do give to OpenOffice.org - but I doubt we will see OOo as a part of the Google Pack any time soon, IMHO. -- - Chad Smith http://www.chadwsmith.com/
