For those of you who were there - I hope you've got home safely - for those of you who couldn't make it - hope you'll be able to next time.
Here are my marketing highlights from OOoCon 2006. The MP meeting on Monday was I'm afraid a bit of a disaster, as it was arranged too late for the printed schedule, so some folks arrived too late and even some of those who were at INSA couldn't find it. Apologies - my fault. For those who made it (I've 'borrowed' this photo from someone and I can't remember who - apologies for any copyright violation...) http://www.mealldubh.org/wp-content/uploads/2006/09/mp.png there was a useful exchange of experience: for example Italo Vignoli had some good tips on effective management of press relations; and Jacqueline Rahemipour had brought along a great printed "Intro to OOo" co-produced with a training company. There was also a good discussion on making the most of our MarCons and relations with the Native-Language Projects - about which more later. I'd recommend the following key conference presentations for MP folks. Hint - I recommend having both the video stream and the Impress presentation on your PC screen at the same time :-) Michael Bemmer "OpenOffice.org 2.0 and beyond". 17 minutes into the talk Michael talks about the product roadmap. Erwin Tenhumberg "What open source lovers want". Some useful statistics from the user survey. Bernhard Dippold "Visual Identity of OpenOffice.org Now and in Future". The Art Project's suggestions for what OOo might look like in the future. Claudio Filho "Brazil - A strange success case". More an NL Project talk than an MP one, but an inspiration for us all! and (in all modesty) John McCreesh "why.openoffice.org". Find out what "why" is all about. I'd appreciate feedback about this, especially the "why video" section (select slide 16 and press F5) The presentations are on the schedule pages, and the videos are on the Kiberpipa pages: http://marketing.openoffice.org/ooocon2006/schedule/tuesday.html http://ooocon-arnes.kiberpipa.org/media/index-day1-2006.html http://marketing.openoffice.org/ooocon2006/schedule/wednesday.html http://ooocon-arnes.kiberpipa.org/media/index-day2-2006.html There's also general OOoCon impressions on my blog as usual at http://www.mealldubh.org. Other attendees - have I missed anything?
