Please do, there is considerable value. It is arguably the largest *nix technical conference. Attendances probably around >600 including many developers. It is one conference that Linus religiously attends. In this environment we have to compete with the high powered corporate recruiters but that is not all bad. > > >>> Having that "second product" being used in other software would also be > >>> a good thing because this would most likely result in more developers > >>> wanting to participate in enhancing that "second product" istself which > >>> is an integral part of our "main product" benefiting everyone again. > >>> > >>> So can we somehow get that "second product" on the main page and > >>> probably start some other marketing efforts for it? > > > > Agreed. We can leverage off the "Why" campaign: "Why UNO" The trick is getting it noticed and getting it into the correct faces. That will take a little planning. My first instinct is to launch a campaign leading up to LCA. That's a tall order given the timeframe but doable. The goal of the campaign would be to generate interest amongst the developer community to get people to the OOo Miniconf. We can talk to the LCA organisers to get announcement on the website. A few mentions on the Conf mailing List perhaps. Sun/OOo sponsorship of the Conf perhaps However to make that effective we need a carrot... ie: Members of the Dev Team being at and presenting at the MiniConf.
