I knew there had to be a better discussion group for it, but I didn't know where it was. I am (among other things) a lawyer, and months ago I created a database to handle management of my cases: client information, case details and notes, scheduling, billing, contact information, etc. I did it in OOoBase using the "standalone" file format. Now, months later, we're finding that my secretary and I are frequently needing to access the database simultaneously, so we extracted the files and started serving them up using the hsqldb server and JDBC. We got that working great; if I go to the Tables, all of my data is there and is perfect. However, all non-numeric data (anything that is of type VARCHAR, for example) displays as a one-digit numeric value (usually "0" unless the first character of the text contained within that field is another numeral) in the forms. This, needless to say, makes the entire thing pretty much useless. Got any suggestions on how to fix this?
