Hi
Alas, there has not been enough interest in this, and I will therefore
decline LW's offer. I suggest we focus on other events more suited to
our strengths.
Best,
Louis

Hi,
OpenOffice.org has been given the opportunity to hold a booth at
LinuxWorld San Francisco this 4-7 August. We have also been given a
two-day space (room) for community events, and these could include
just about anything. In short, the deal is that we can use
LinuxWorld
as a community meeting place.

What we need, to make a decision, is some expression of interest by
people who could staff a booth and make the community days
interesting. Most of us don't live around there, in the SF Bay
Area,
and flying out there is costly, not to mention bad for the
environment. It's also not at all certain that OOo could subsidize
any
travel or lodging.
I live in San Jose, and will be happy to reserve that time for OOo.
If you
don't mind cats (two) and a very messy house, I could have one
person stay
at my place.
Thanks! But we need also several more people, at least 4 or 5, and
ideally some who can speak to the technology and other contributor
elements of OOo.... So, let's see if anyone else steps forward by
Monday. (NB: San Jose is about 1 hour from SF. By California
standards, that's quite close.)
Yes, and there's Caltrain and BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), so
there's no
need to rent a car to drive in SF [nor would you particularly want
to!]; I
can pick people up at the airport and drive to the train or BART
station.
