My take on the idea (which is a great one) is that we should piggyback existing infrastructure and create the community within SourceForge. Many who already contribute/want to contribute/do not know that they can contribute to OO0 already have accounts and a presence there.

Yea i like that idea, and it will do well in terms of different versions of stuff such as artwork and documents such as pdf's and the like. It will enable us to not overwrite, accidently remove other user's content and stuff as it will be version based. As for hosting however, There are multiple places it could go, could go on the OOo site or somewhere remote such as a storage site such www.solo.flphost.com or www.box.net however www.box.net has a limit on the space you can use. But yea, overall I like or even love this idea.

Subject: [marketing] OpenOffice.org-Forge

Many projects have extended their encouragemente of 3rd party support to get developers jump in their peripheral branches. However they also go as far as having the whole hosting suite for all these projects. They usually use a web application called *Forge, taken from sourceforge or g-force.

Other companies doing this include:
Novell
PostgreSQL community
Ruby
etc..

What are the chances to have a http://forge.services.openoffice.org setup. This will make it easier for developers to host their projects and actually don't get into other conflicts like hosting, etc.

Hopefully we can get more convesation over these topics.
