Hi all,
I discovered recently on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list that the name of
the Mozilla Plug-in comes from the name of the API that is used for this
functionality.
I also learned later that it not only works for Mozilla but for all
these browsers:
Mozilla Firefox
Netscape
Internet Explorer (with Active-X component selected at install)
Opera (if a certain DLL is copied)*
I think it's complicated to use this name. When reading it, you directly
think of the browser, which is not true. It's the name of the API!
It even works in several browsers, functionality that should be treated
better than with the very narrow description "Mozilla plug-in".
I think the product would benefit from changing the name of this feature
to "Browser Plug-in".
If someone has to initiate such a discussion, I think the best shot
would be in this project.
With kind regards
Per Eriksson
