I beg to differ (but be aware that I have a bias - I was involved implementing it). The hybrid pdf feature alone justifies this extension (just imagine the impact on pdf workflows). Regarding the quality of 'raw' pdf import, my experience is that a lot of the documents out there import good enough (especially government forms and the like) - and note that 100% fidelity for PDF is almost unattainable, just compare with commercial offerings importing into Word, and having had ages of refinement already.
