Hello Ismael,

thank you very much for your e-mail and your interest in and engagement for OpenOffice.org!

The MarCon role for Spain is free at the moment, and if you are willing to take over the role and the responsibility for your area, I'd happily nominate you as a MarCon! Your introduction looked very good, and I can't see any language barrier. :-)

So, if you want - welcome to the show!

Please send me all your contact details you want to have published publically), and I will adjust the website and add you to some internal mailing lists.

Should there be any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome again,
Florian

Hi, everyone!

My name is Ismael Fanlo, and I live in Barcelona, Spain.

I'm an active member of the Spanish community of OOo for six years
(first message in discuss_es mailing list of April 11, 2003) and I'm
freelance teacher of office.

I do not know the current activity in the Sea-Cons, but I have noticed
in http://marketing.openoffice.org/contacts.html that this post
follows vacancy in Spain, which is a shame because I believe we live
now exciting moments for OOo and free software in general.

In Spain, as we push and pull with driving governmental from using
OOo, many companies and agencies are initiating the migration process,
or at least be are initializing their study.

In fact, this year is the first in which OpenOffice.org is giving me
eating more than Microsoft Office! :-D

Despite my limitations, I have thought about running for Marketing
Contact (MarCon, for short) because I think the time is optimal to
push the process, and I think we could contribute something to this
drive.

So this old compliance self-assessment of some old mail:

* Give talks to a diverse audience: 10
* Travel to attend events: 7
* Set and achieve marketing goals: 7
* Recruit new people in the community: 7
* Explain complex things to any audience: 9
* Research and connect with event organizers: 6
* Approach the local media and have a good PR approach: 4
(this "good PR", I am not very clear ...)

Against me, some Anglo-illiteracy, which does not prevent me from
reading and understand texts in English (relying on translators, if
necessary). In a couple of times I wrote e-mails in the language of
empire and recipients have understood me. :-)

For my aid, I received offers of collaboration from other people, what
I can say that my lack of fluency in English would not be problem
(provided they are not verbal communication).

Also, some against, some slow development of my tasks, caused by a
meticulous and perfectionist zeal (the fact: I'm delayed one hour in
writing this email) :-D

I have in my favor a long experience in promoting OOo in various
events and much hundreds of hours taught (perhaps a thousand, even) in
training for various target profiles.

My self-employment allows me (somewhat) flexible use of my time to
meet need that require the task. On transport,
I rely on public transport, which fortunately is quite well developed here.

I think it would be great to have more people in the Spanish
geographic frame interested in the subject, to form team and see
to coordinate the advocacy work to be developed.

Before writing this post, I was watching the document referred
Alexandro in his day:
http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dcxn8hgr_149jrgbbhgx

I also tried to access http://planetopenoffice.org/moodle/ but some
reason, the site rejected my registration.

I do not know if they changed the requirements and documentation
relating to this activity, so I would appreciate to colleagues on the
list guidance on this matter

Well, there it is.

Best regards,
