I am happy to let you all know that I am slowly and steadily converting my
colleges to OO. Since the last 2 months I have made 8 Open Office users . This
was my stratergy which I followed
Met IT Infrastructure manager and spoke to him about OO. He agreed with
me about the advantages of using OO . But he said there are people who user MS
email client which comes with MS office, also that file format compatibility .
Explained to him about the setup which we can do in tools and saving
setting to save it to MS format
All this meeting was not able to change the official policy of using MS
office , this did not let me down. I spoke to my colleagues one by one
separately and asked them if they have problem in trying out something which is
better.some agreed and some not.
I installed OO and then changed the properties of doc, ppt and xls file to
open in OO. Then I changed the default saving property to save it to MS format.
Now I have 8 new OO users and they say they are comfortable in using IT . Very
soon in all my department will be using open office .
Then I will target other department one by one, since I do
not have any authority on deciding on IT policy .Only targeting one by one is
the best way
Very soon I will be sending you the clipping of newspaper reporting
about this migration
