What about the vendor tied in, or having your data incompatible with the rest of the infrastructure?
OpenOffice.org is exactly that, open. OpenOffice.org has many BI suites like Pentaho, OpenBravo, OpenExpertia etc. Communication suites like Zimbra or OpenXchange and content servers like O3Spaces, alfresco. OpenOffice.org use open standards and connect to less restrictive software with support and with the choice to easily migrate out without affecting your data.
