Basically why we need on-line OOo. I suspect not a trivial task. Maybe a
thin client login through a web browser as a trial? Advertising could
pay for the hosting in the longer term. Advantage of that approach is
not having to do anything much with the code and it happens pretty
immediately and provides far more comprehensive facilities than Google
Docs.


OpenOffice.org needs to become a stronger player on the area of collaboration, right now there are some core technologies in linux that can provide this. Unfortunately not so much on Windows or OSX. However Freedesktop initiatives such as Telepathy can be used to enable collaboration and conferencing on the core of the OS that OOo can just call to enable such a thing.

Collabora's Telepathy can take the load of the collaboration and we could just focus on devloping a connector to their protocols.

Unfortunately from the description can be seen here since most focus on media but on the demo other technologies that are broadcast can also be used such as XML.
