Hi, This was NRK's own decision. As you could read in Lars Nooden's translation, NRK wants to be loyal to the mandatory standards stated in the "Reference Inventory for IT standards in the public sector" published by the Norwegian Council of Standardization (Standardiseringsraadet). http://standard.labs.difi.no/english
>From 01.01.2010 it is mandatory for public organisations to publish documents in ODF or PDF on web ( http://standard.labs.difi.no/forvaltningsstandarder/anvendelsesomraade/dokumentstandarder-paa-offentlige-nettsider) >From 01.01.2011 it is mandatory for public organisations to exchange text document (e.g. mail attachments) with other public units, citizens or organisations in ODF og PDF. ( http://standard.labs.difi.no/forvaltningsstandarder/anvendelsesomraade/utveksling-av-dokumenter-som-vedlegg-til-epost-mellom-offentlige-virksomheter-og-innbygger-naeringsliv) As far as I understand the articles about this issue, the standardisation-argument was the most important for NRK. We welcome this decision, knowing that we finally have got a very valuable reference-user - also in Norway. In this moment we have a bunch of Norwegian municipalities, county-administrations and government-institutions evaluating a convertion to OpenOffice. We hope this will be an important inspiration for those organisations. Martin Hauge 2010/1/10 Gianvittorio <[email protected]> > Hi Leif, > How did this happen?
