Hi, OOo will be participating in ALA conference later this year and we
are asking for your help on designing and creating templates for the
Librarian community in the US. We would like to have a collection of
some of the templates including:
- Kid-like templates
- Patron template for library staff
- templates for book sign up
- ideas welcomed

Alexandro,

What type of templates are you talking about? For documents to be
created? Design templates for marketing materials?

Andy

We were thinking about functional templates that a library will use on
running a library. So from end-user templates, for kids, to staff based
templates, to common templates for labeling books or tagging them with
the correct code. The idea is to have a collection of templates that
Librarians can use, the goal is 10-20 templates.
Please get your creative juices, and ask around, I am not an expert
librarian, but the general idea is to have something 'extra' that
librarias at ALA could see showcased at our boot.

Hello Andy, Alexandro, et al

Actually when I was speaking with Alexandro I had Andy in mind,
at least partially.

Andy is putting a CD together for distribution at the show.
@Andy, I've been meaning to get back to you on that,
sorry for the delay, guess now is a good time.

I had asked Andy if he planned to include any extensions and/or
templates on the CD - I saw in the MLs that he asked for feed back
on what that might include.

@Andy - have you gotten any suggestions back on that?

When Alexandro was talking to me last night it a couple of ideas came
to mind.

@Andy - would you consider including OOo4Kids on the CD along with
OpenOffice.org?

@Alexandro - I know I didn't mention that last night.

Actually this all got going in my head from an email on the users ML
last week I suppose - from an elementary school teacher looking for
some help with templates / clip art, appropriate for kids.

One thing I did at that time was go the template site and see what
we might have there - rather dismal pickings for kid stuff it appears.

Clip art wise - well that is OT for this email
...but thankfully there is Kami.

so @Andy - here is my suggestion for one inclusion for the CD:
The OOOP-Gallery pack found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooop/files/

Alright - assuming OOo4Kids is ok with you and the gallery pack then that
is ~1/2 of the CD space.

There is also a Template pack from the same source as the gallery pack,
but I don't think you could get on the CD given the other three...maybe
I'm wrong on that.

--so first @Andy, or anyone else, what do you think about that?

@Alexandro, sorry for diverting the mail a bit here...

Thanks

Drew
