Without the whole story - I'll come back and do that later as to why, ..anyway - lots of Tweets wit the OpenOffice.org name tonight or morning depending on the side of the world each is on..*smile*

So, here is a quick recounting of Sunday Morning Tokyo.

Seems there is a brand Kamen Rider in Japan - well worldwide I suppose - it includes video games, anime films and the full gambit of toys/memorabilia/paraphernalia one would expect.

On Sunday, last, there was the launch of a new OOO-Rider tv show - animation, youngish audience. It was to coincide with the release of the video game to Wii for the first time, good marketing.

More good marketing - A participatory twitter event for the TV viewers. The basis for tracking all the tweets that would be part of this 'event' - the tag #OOO

OK, so you know I watch twitter for tags: including the #ooo tag.

At 7 PM Saturday, for me, the show started in Tokyo - my search string of "#OOO OR OpenOffice OR #ODF" started returning a lot of tweets, all in Japanese. Used google to try a translation and it really was bad - young audience, idioms..I suppose.

Anyway - my mistake still - I decided to track the activity and document it 'in situ' so I twitted out some stats.

What happened next has a been a story on the front page of slashdot.jp all of yesterday and still today, finally moving from top slot to number 3.

Our friend in Japan seems to think we should just use the #ooo still..and I suppose so - after a few days.
