Hi All For those who aren't already aware ApacheCon North America 2014 is being held in Denver, Colorado next month from April 7th 9th. You can find details of the conference at http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/apachecon-north-america and a detailed talk schedule at http://apacheconnorthamerica2014.sched.org
Registration rates go up another $300 from $1099 to $1399 after March 14th (this Friday) so if you were thinking of attending you should plan on registering sooner rather than later. Also the conference rate for the hotel is only guaranteed until this Friday so you may have to stay elsewhere or pay a lot more if you haven't registered by the end of the week. Note that students are eligible for a discounted registration of $399 and any Apache committer is eligible for a discounted registration of just $275 right up until the start of the conference. There are a number of linked data related talks that may be interesting to people in the Jena and Marmotta communities this year: * Introducing JDBC for SPARQL - http://apacheconnorthamerica2014.sched.org/event/0ad56d4160b830b0bc59261efd1 43721#.Ux2hfFwp_HM * Using the Apache Linked Data Stack - http://apacheconnorthamerica2014.sched.org/event/555c32904858bd4ff8b53047dd3 077c3#.Ux2hlFwp_HM * Tutorial SPARQL Optimization 101 - http://apacheconnorthamerica2014.sched.org/event/6d9c49be2e8ae05e251aa43478e 0bf03#.Ux2hulwp_HM (Requires extra fee of $399, discounted to $299 for students) As well as some other more general talks that have relevance to people in these communities: * Get more out of GSoC opportunities: a win-win for both Projects and Students - http://apacheconnorthamerica2014.sched.org/event/004e144a91d1fb684e62a39633f 63cbb#.Ux2hNVwp_HM * Your Graph is Showing: The Trend toward Graph Databases - http://apacheconnorthamerica2014.sched.org/event/abe79a18f50ce9bec7a9dc212ee 77ad2#.Ux2hhFwp_HM * Supporting Apache Brands While Making a Profit - http://apacheconnorthamerica2014.sched.org/event/21f10a498f25455766b23e80970 a60c3#.Ux2hb1wp_HM There are also talks on lots of other Apache projects, in particular if you're interested in the Hadoop ecosystem then this would be a great conference to attend. I will be attending the conference myself (I'm giving the JDBC for SPARQL talk and the SPARQL Optimization 101 tutorial) and I hope to see some of you at ApacheCon next month. If anyone from the Jena community is planning on being there and would like to meet for lunch/dinner/drinks/etc then please let me know Regards, Rob Vesse
