       Body:
The Ant patch was applied by Erik Hatcher a few days after it was registered (May
2003). At the time of this writing, the last Ant release (1.5.3.1) was released in
April 2003, so we'll have to wait until the next Ant release (And Maven upgrade to use
that Ant) before this patch should be applied.

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MAVEN-312
Summary: Declaration of custom javadoc tags
       Type: Improvement

     Status: Unassigned
   Priority: Major

 Time Spent: Unknown
   Estimate: 0 minutes

    Project: maven
   Versions:
             1.0-beta-9

   Assignee:
   Reporter: Aslak Hellesøy

Environment: Javadoc 1.4

Description:
Javadoc 1.4 lets you specify custom Javadoc tags:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/tooldocs/windows/javadoc.html#tag

I have sent a patch to Ant that makes it possible to declare custom tags in separate
files:

http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17142

When this patch is applied, it would be nice if this patch was applied too. This is
very handy for projects that are using XDoclet and Maven together. (I'll notify you
when the Ant patch is applied).

Cheers,
Aslak
