There is a wiki page about it, but it could help to add the "run from base directory" stuff. I can't get there at the moment - server seems down.
There is an issue in JIRA where dIon put together an idea about a maven command for actually creating a patch. Just needs to be put together. I was thinking of adding it to my scm plugin.
