Vincent! I think this idea is cool.
I am just afraid that realization won't be so smooth, as this requires better coordination between plugins. I am not saying "no" to you initiative - but I'd like to rather see Maven 1.0 out ASAP and then concentrate our efforts on service oriented version of Maven. I am certain it won't get long to have Maven2-Aplha1 out.
