you might be absolutely right but which timeframe is the right one? Three years? Four years? You cannot determine for a bulk update.

A joint bug scrub is a better way -- yes but discussing 1500 bugs takes weeks. I already got the first reopen requests.

As long as you you can always reopen an issue and someone reacts on the closure, aren't we good then? The point is to drag attention from the reporter.
