The problem is really only once the SPI project is in the same reactor as is using it. Even then there were indications that this has actually been improved in 3.x; I did not check this. There is a testcase in surefire for this (surefire-141), where I split the provider into a separate project and the testcase forks 2 different builds. I really dont think we should introduce another mechanism.... Kristian
